Owen Connolly
Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Suicide Prevention
Owen is an endorsed mental health Nurse Practitioner who has over 30 years’ experience in suicide prevention, mental health and drug and alcohol treatment across Australia and New Zealand. His roles have included clinical care, development and delivery of education, clinical supervision, capacity building, system development and leadership.
He has advanced skills in assessment, formulation and safety planning and uses a biopsychosocial approach to provide care. He is innovative and engaging in his approaches with consumers, carers, clinicians and teams.
He has worked with the government on service design and development and has expertise in developing effective care models within funding frameworks. Owen has expertise in psychosocial bushfire recovery with survivors and in developing pathways to care in rural and remote settings
Owen is a leader in developing improved client centred suicide prevention responses and the integration of clinical and primary mental health service systems.
Owen has worked with people across disciplines and is happy to provide supervision with individuals or teams.
