Dr Kaine Grigg
Clinical Psychologist
Kaine is a Clinical Psychologist with experience working across the lifespan, in clinical and forensic settings.
As a clinician working through roles as Youth Worker, Social Worker and then Psychologist he worked with a broad range of age groups and populations in diverse settings. Kaine’s work has included residential alcohol and other drug withdrawal units, community health services, forensic mental health hospitals, prisons, juvenile detentions facilities as well as court assessment clinics. Part of an innovative community mental health treatment program, Kaine is currently working in Youth Hospital in the Home for 16 to 24 year olds who are mentally unwell.
His research interests have included cross-cultural interactions, with research on the negative mental health effects of perceived racism, developing an attitudinal measure and scale of racial, ethnic, cultural and religious acceptance, the outcome from his Doctoral research being the Racism, Acceptance, and Cultural-Ethnocentrism Scale (RACES). Kaine is formerly trained in a range of CBT-based therapies (CT, ACT, and MBCT) and Motivational Interviewing. Kaine has formal training Gatekeeper, ASIST and safeTALK suicide prevention. He is also the co-founder of FreoMind, a charity supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of the Fremantle community.
Kaine has authored a number of articles based on the RACES scale, but importantly, has also shared his knowledge and skill with respect to suicide prevention in Australian correctional settings, co-authoring the article Considerations for Suicide Prevention in Australia’s Prisons.
Kaine is based in Perth, Western Australia, being a fantastic local contact for SRAA in the western region.

Qualifications
- A Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology, from Monash University, with a specialisation in Forensic Psychology
- A Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Distinction
- A Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) (Honours 1)
